Job summary

Rocket Lab seeks a Senior Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer I – Mission Formulation to lead mechanical formulation for new satellite systems, including structures, mechanisms, and bus configurations. You will manage mass budgets, requirements, trades, testing plans, and overall mechanical systems processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
• Experience supporting satellite and/or spacecraft development programs.
• Experience with CAD modeling and drawing.
• US citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead satellite mechanical engineering formulation supporting business development and new opportunity capture.
• Develop high performance and lightweight satellite bus configurations, structures, and mechanisms for customers.
• Define mechanisms and deployment systems for modern satellite systems/bus.
• Develop and maintain mass and mechanical technical budgets for vehicle performance.
• Lead mechanical design through conceptual design to production, test, and operation.
• Create and maintain CAD models, production drawings, and test procedures.
