Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Systems Engineer to own system-level engineering across propulsion, attitude control, and flight dynamics for multiple satellite configurations. You’ll set requirements, budgets, and interfaces with HW/SW teams, driving verification strategies from ground tests to on-orbit operations.

You will collaborate with GNC, propulsion, flight software, power, and thermal teams to ensure robust, reusable architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.
• 7+ years of spacecraft or aerospace systems engineering experience.
• Experience with spacecraft attitude determination and control, including sensors, actuators, and control modes.
• Experience establishing system-level requirements for a new design.
• Experience defining and documenting interfaces between subsystems that combine hardware and software.
• Experience establishing test strategy for a system that combines hardware and software.
• Experience with physics-based modeling and analysis of complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Own requirements for electric propulsion, attitude determination and control, and flight dynamics across multiple satellite configurations.
• Maintain system budgets and margins; drive cross-functional trade studies.
• Define and maintain interfaces with flight software, power, thermal, mechanical, and avionics; manage ICDs and telemetry definitions.
• Establish verification and test strategy from hardware-in-the-loop to on-orbit evidence; lead FMECA and FDIR efforts.
• Define metrics and performance measures to guide design, test, and readiness reviews.
