Job summary

Schmidt Entities seeks a Senior Spacecraft GN&C Engineer in California to own the end-to-end pointing control simulation for mission verification. You will implement and validate the integrated pointing model, incorporate vendor inputs, and develop scripts for verification of pointing performance.

The role requires hands-on modeling in MATLAB/Simulink/Python, strong control-systems fundamentals, and the ability to deliver formal V&V evidence across subsystems and the spacecraft bus.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with spacecraft GN&C simulations for attitude control and pointing.
• Experience writing verification tools and post-processing pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of stability, bandwidth, disturbance rejection, and sensor/actuator dynamics.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink/Python for modeling and analysis.
• Experience owning end-to-end pointing simulations and verification.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end pointing simulation development and validation.
• Perform GN&C modeling and analyses including control-loop and frequency-domain studies.
• Integrate GN&C, AOCS, WCC/guider, FSM, jitter, and structural models from internal teams and vendors.
• Document key assumptions, limitations, and design trade-offs.
• Develop scripts and automated workflows for pointing verification at subsystem and system levels.
• Generate repeatable verification outputs, margins, plots, and evidence for V&V closure.
• Support tests involving pointing modes, target acquisition, tracking, and mode transitions.
