Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Software Systems Engineer II for its Optical Systems site in Tucson, AZ. You will design, develop, test space-based electro-optical sensors and manage budgets, requirements, and verification across the software lifecycle.

You’ll collaborate with flight software teams, mentor engineers, and participate in technical interchange meetings to ensure program success. U.S. citizenship and active clearance are required. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering
• Active Clearance
• 8+ years of aerospace engineering experience; 3+ years leading development projects; 2+ years in leadership
• CAM and/or IPTL experience
• Experience with JAMA, DOORS, JIRA, Cameo
• U.S. citizenship is required; familiarity with aerospace standards and practices

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain technical budgets for vehicle performance
• Define software system requirements and verification methods
• Create simulations and perform analyses across vehicle functions
• Develop test methods and perform data analysis
• Provide oversight of system software architecture and interfaces
• Mentor other engineers on systems engineering and V&V
• Participate in TIMs and stakeholder discussions
• Support travel or off-site work as needed
