Job summary

Rocket Lab Corporation seeks a Senior Software Systems Engineer II at our Optical Systems site in Tucson, AZ. You will design, develop, and test space-based electro-optical sensors, manage budgets, and drive system software architectures for space missions.

You will mentor engineers, support verification campaigns, and collaborate on interfaces and CONOPS to ensure mission success. U.S. citizenship and ITAR compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (systems, software, computer, electrical, aerospace, or other technical engineering discipline)
• Active Clearance
• 8+ years in aerospace engineering; 3+ years leading projects or teams
• CAM and/or IPTL experience
• Experience with requirements management and modeling tools (JAMA, DOORS, JIRA, Cameo)
• Familiarity with aerospace standards and US export controls (ITAR)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test space-based software for optical sensors and payloads
• Interpret system architecture and derive software/firmware requirements
• Manage software verification and validation planning and execution
• Develop budgets for vehicle performance and verification activities
• Collaborate on interface specifications and CONOPS
• Mentor other engineers and participate in TIMs
