Job summary

GAP Solutions Inc. in Rockville, MD, is seeking a senior space planning professional to lead space planning, workplace strategy, and interior design across offices, labs, and technology environments.

The role requires coordinating with architects, engineers, facility staff, IT, and vendors to deliver feasible, cost-effective solutions. The successful candidate will develop furniture standards, create BIM/CAD drawings, review field conditions, and manage projects from concept to closeout.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Facilities Planning, or related discipline.
• 17–19 years of professional experience in space planning, workplace strategy, interior design, or facility planning.
• Experience supporting administrative, healthcare, research laboratory, and technology environments.
• Expertise in workplace planning, furniture systems, facility utilization, CAD, space-management systems, communication, and project coordination.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Government credentials and facility access.

Responsibilities

• Develop space allocation plans for offices, labs, clinical and support spaces and perform utilization reviews.
• Provide three design alternatives for architectural, engineering, or interior projects as directed.
• Prepare and update CAD floor plans, blocking, stacking, test fits, and as-built docs; verify field conditions.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, project managers, facility teams, IT, AV, MEP, and vendors.
• Develop furniture standards, BOMs, budgets, procurement and installation plans, inventories, and reuse strategies.
• Support moves, occupancy, workplace transitions, stakeholder engagement, and mitigation of operational impacts.
• Prepare executive presentations and reconcile space, furniture, drawing, occupancy, and asset records in ARCHIBUS.
• Contribute to space-planning studies, relocation plans, and CAD drawings and reports.
