Job summary

Space Kinetic Corp. in El Segundo, CA, seeks a Senior Mechanism Simulation Engineer to drive the design and testing of the Whirlwind Payload.

You will analyze flight hardware, develop simulations, and collaborate with CAD teams to validate mechanisms for the next generation of space operations. The role emphasizes high fidelity structural/kinematics analyses, V&V tests, and working across Structures, Thermal, GNC, Propulsion, and manufacturing teams to push the project toward production within

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in structural analysis for spacecraft or aerospace hardware.
• Experience with space vehicle structural loads across all mission phases.
• Ability to understand mission concepts, trajectory, and flight dynamics.
• Familiarity with design limit loads and margins of safety per standards.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAE packages (listed above).
• Experience developing mathematical models and simulations for structural margins.
• Experience planning and executing system and subsystem dynamics and testing.
• Ability to work with multiple engineering teams and suppliers.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Partner with manufacturing/engineering to develop the Whirlwind Payload design and analyze flight hardware.
• Support design team with detailed mechanism simulations of prototype and flight hardware.
• Assist with development phases, validating the mechanism design and coordinating with vendors.
• Design the validation and verification tests to drive prototype improvements for mission requirements.
• Scale and optimize mechanism designs to enhance flight system performance.
• Perform hardware validation and flight qualification testing.
