Job summary

Ephemeris Net in California is building space networking hardware. Join our electrical engineering team to design and develop electronics for high‑speed digital systems, optical transceivers, and precision terminal electronics that will route space traffic.

You will collaborate across hardware and firmware, select COTS parts for space, and support qualification testing. The role reports to the CTO; hybrid work three days per week in our Oakland or El Segundo offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of electronics design experience with a focus on high-speed digital or analog circuits.
• Experience with PCB design tools (Altium, Cadence, or similar).
• Track record delivering hardware.
• Understanding of signal integrity principles for high-speed digital design.
• Experience with laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.

Responsibilities

• High-Speed Digital Design: design systems with interfaces up to 9.6 Tbps for space-based routing.
• Optical transceivers: design and develop semi-custom optical transceiver modules for space networking.
• Optical Terminal Electronics: design motor control systems and photodiode transimpedance amplifiers.
• Space Hardware Development: select COTS components and support thermal management for space environments.
• System Integration: define electrical interfaces between network box, optical terminals, and spacecraft bus.
• Debug and troubleshoot hardware issues during build, integration, and test phases.
