Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Staff Component Engineer to lead high-reliability electronics parts selection and qualification for space systems. You will own part plans, vendor evaluations, and ECO-related documentation while guiding a growing engineering team.

The role focuses on standardizing parts, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards, and coordinating with design, reliability, and quality teams to mitigate risk and deliver robust component solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 12 years of experience as a component engineer.
• Knowledge of component selection, qualification, screening and derating for military and aerospace.
• Experience managing new part requests and part attributes in a PLM system.
• Direct experience with parts plans for high-volume satellite constellations.

Responsibilities

• Act as CesiumAstro’s technical representative with customers to define testing and qualification requirements for EEE parts.
• Lead high-reliability EEE parts selection, standardization, qualification, and verification on a growing team.
• Develop a roadmap for state-of-the-art components with engineering to balance cost and schedule.
• Provide EEE part expertise and support on aerospace programs and align customer needs with products.
• Review components for compliance to industry requirements (EEE-INST-002, AEC, TOR, JEDEC).
• Write and review parts plans, ECOs, and project documents.
• Improve processes for ECO reviews and adjudication.
• Build relationships with space part suppliers and conduct supplier audits.
• Review screening/test data against specs, PO requirements, and contracts.
• Coordinate with design, reliability, and quality engineers for risk mitigation.
