Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Communications Systems Engineer (Engineering Specialist - Communication Systems Engineering) to work on the CSED team in El Segundo, CA. You will tackle challenging problems in RF satellite communications, signal processing, and system design, contributing to DoD, IC, and civil programs.

Ideal candidates bring 6+ years of engineering experience, MATLAB/Python/C/C++, and the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or related applicable technical discipline.
• Six or more years of relevant engineering experience with increasing responsibility.
• Experience with RF satellite communication systems (hardware and software, systems engineering, RF system design requirements development, integration and test, system development, or related field).
• Understanding of communication systems and digital signal processing concepts (modulation, coding, synchronization, estimation, detection theory, waveform design).
• Fluency in MATLAB, Python, or C/C++.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
• Ability to travel domestically 10% (up to 20% for some programs).

Responsibilities

• Independently execute and/or lead projects involving physical layer modeling and simulation.
• Design and analyze communication waveforms and performance.
• Design and analyze position, navigation, and timing signals.
• Perform communication link budget analysis.
• Evaluate programs of record and future programs (satellite comms, SIGINT, EW).
• Develop and evaluate program requirements, interfaces, and verification processes.
• Develop DSP algorithms and provide actionable technical solutions.
• Translate concepts into practical technical plans and write clear reports.
