Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA is seeking a mid-career engineer within the Mission Payloads Division to lead RF satellite communications, DSP, and hardware development projects. You will collaborate with world-class experts to deliver innovative solutions across space systems, including signal processing, waveform design, and system architecture.

The role is on-site, with mentorship and opportunities to contribute to critical national missions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, CS, mathematics or related technical field.
• Six+ years of relevant engineering experience with increasing responsibility.
• Experience with RF satellite communication systems (hardware/software).
• Knowledge of advanced communication systems and DSP concepts.
• Experience with laboratory/test equipment and SDRs.
• MATLAB, Python and/or C/C++ programming experience.
• Ability to obtain a current TS/SCI clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
• Travel up to 10% domestic; up to 20% may be required for certain projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead small engineering teams or independently execute projects in physical layer modeling and waveform design.
• Analyze performance of coding, modulation, and DSP algorithms.
• Develop communication system architectures and tradeoff analyses.
• Evaluate programs of record and future programs in various tech areas.
• Prototype hardware and perform laboratory and field testing.
• Translate vague concepts into practical technical plans.
• Communicate technical results clearly in reports and presentations.
• Anticipate customers’ needs and identify opportunities for new business.
