Job summary

Muon Space, Inc. in San Jose, CA seeks a Senior Avionics Engineer to design, develop, and test electrical hardware for next-generation spacecraft. You will work with engineers across disciplines to bring satellite systems to life.

This hybrid role requires on-site presence in San Jose three days per week. The compensation includes a salary range of $192,000–$212,000 plus equity and a comprehensive benefits package, with opportunities to mentor teammates and influence hardware design.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering preferred.
• 5–8 years of hardware engineering experience, especially with electronic systems.
• Familiar with oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies.
• Expert in schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium, Cadence/Orcad).
• Understanding of microcontrollers and interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet).
• Experience with embedded systems and Linux development.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork.
• Desire to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical systems for spacecraft avionics, including flight computers, power distribution, and comms.
• Schematic capture and PCB layout
• Bring-up, testing, and validation of hardware
• Collaborate with software engineers on hardware/software integration
• Build and test early hardware prototypes
• Work cross-functionally to ensure manufacturability and integration
• Create design docs, test procedures, and reports
• Participate in design reviews and provide feedback
• Mentor engineers and drive the team forward
