Job summary

Mclaurin is seeking an Electrostatics Specialist Engineer to join the JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. You will help envision, shape, and deliver systems enabling space exploration while benefiting people on Earth, focusing on charging, risk assessment, and materials evaluation.

The role requires strong communication, lab/field testing, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. US citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or materials; 5–10 years of related experience.
• Lead and perform analysis of spacecraft charging environments (surface/internal charging, differential potentials, plasma interactions).
• Develop and validate electrostatic models for space and ground vehicles; design and support lab/field testing including high‑voltage discharge tests.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME in high‑charging environments with primary responsibilities in spacecraft charging analysis, surface potentials, and ESD mitigation.
• Support engineering teams developing spacecraft, rovers, or other platforms with electrostatic risks.
• Evaluate circuits and box‑level designs for ESD protection; report to Electronics and Electrical Section Manager.
