Job summary

Surestaff is seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist in Spring Grove, IL to independently manage sourcing and purchasing for production components. The role focuses on connectors, terminals, electrical components, and custom parts, with a 6-month temp assignment and potential extension.

Responsibilities include negotiating quotations, releasing POs, maintaining supplier relationships, and driving cost reductions while ensuring ISO 9001 and UL/CSA compliance where applicable.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience sourcing connectors, terminals, electrical/electronic components or comparable materials.
• Proficiency with ERP purchasing and material-planning processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing and purchasing for company production inventory.
• Interpret BOMs, engineering drawings and part numbers to source correct items and revisions.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations; negotiate pricing, lead times and terms.
• Prepare, release and maintain purchase orders.
• Develop and maintain qualified supplier sources with quality and engineering.
• Monitor demand, inventory, open orders and supplier lead times.
• Monitor supplier delivery, quality and responsiveness.
• Lead cost reduction and cost avoidance initiatives while maintaining specifications.
• Review material planning, open POs and shortage reports.
• Coordinate category ownership and ensure ERP records are up to date.
• Provide mentoring to junior purchasing staff.
