Qualifications

  • Registered by the ARDMS and BLS certification required.
  • 3 years of experience as a Sonographer is essential.

Job description

$15K sign on bonus for eligible new hires with over 1 year of experience
$10K sign on bonus for eligible new hires with less than 1 year of experience

The Senior Sonographer is responsible for the following:

  1. Performs routine and complex ultrasound examinations as prescribed by a physician.
  2. Reviews and evaluates requisitions for ultrasound imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations.
  3. Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
  4. Assesses patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develops plan for adjusting to patients' specific needs.
  5. Follows QC/Data Integrity Workflow process.
  6. Practices High Reliability Communication techniques. Patient/Family/Team Relations
  7. Responds to the uniqueness and clinical condition of the patient.
  8. Creates a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
  9. Promotes a positive work environment in compliance with ETU. Equipment
  10. Identifies and reports on equipment malfunctions.
  11. Assists in patient scheduling and facilitates efficient workflow within ultrasound area (board runner).
  12. Investigates and resolves technical and scheduling issues and performs designated quality assurance functions.
  13. Provides instruction on performing ultrasound procedures for trainees and fellows.
  14. Serves as a resource and responds to requests for information or assistance.

General responsibilities include:

  1. Participates in departmental and hospital meetings.
  2. Completes all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  3. Complies with ETU.
  4. Practices BCH 6 Core Values: excellence, innovation, communication, respect, teamwork and accountability.
  5. Furthers professional education and maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies and procedures.
  6. Takes an active role in research projects involving ultrasound.

The Senior Sonographer must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Registered by the ARDMS.
  2. Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARDMS certification and registration.
  3. BLS certification.
  4. Associates degree in Medical Sonography.
  5. 3 years of experience as a Sonographer.
