Responsibilities:

1. Performs routine and complex ultrasound examinations as prescribed by a physician.
2. Reviews and evaluates requisitions for ultrasound imaging procedures, abstracts data from patient charts, and determines appropriateness based on diagnosis and clinical signs.
3. Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify normal and pathological anatomy.
4. Assesses patients' physical and emotional status, developing plans to meet their specific needs.
5. Follows QC/Data Integrity Workflow process.
6. Practices High Reliability Communication techniques and fosters positive patient, family, and team relations.
7. Creates a supportive environment for patients and families.
8. Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions.
9. Assists in patient scheduling and ensures efficient workflow.
10. Resolves technical and scheduling issues and performs quality assurance functions.
11. Provides training on ultrasound procedures to trainees and fellows.
12. Participates in departmental and hospital meetings.
13. Completes all documentation accurately and timely.
14. Maintains compliance with ETU and BCH core values: excellence, innovation, communication, respect, teamwork, and accountability.
15. Engages in professional development and research activities involving ultrasound.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Registered by the ARDMS.
2. Must maintain ARDMS certification and registration.
3. BLS certification.
4. Associates degree in Medical Sonography.
5. At least 3 years of experience as a Sonographer.
