Senior Sales Engineer - SLED Accounts

Position Description:

Solutions Engineers at Okta are involved throughout the customer development lifecycle, utilizing presentations, email, phone, and social media to engage clients. We seek team players capable of creating sales presentations, demonstrating products, and educating a range of stakeholders from developers to executives on cloud security technologies. Empathy, quick understanding of customer needs, and a blend of technical and business acumen are essential. As a Senior Solutions Engineer, you will advise diverse SLED customers on leveraging Okta's Identity Platform.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with account teams to strategize and maximize opportunities.
  • Research customer requirements and articulate the value of cloud solutions.
  • Deliver Proof of Concepts (POCs) for complex use cases with cross-team collaboration.
  • Create technical content demonstrating implementation methodologies.
  • Prepare and present demos aligning with customer needs.
  • Gather and relay customer feedback to internal teams.
Required Skills:
  • Over 5 years of pre-sales engineering experience.
  • Experience selling into SLED accounts.
  • Customer-centric approach, with experience in consulting or support roles.
  • Effective communication of complex technical concepts.
  • Deep understanding of IAM: SSO, MFA, SCIM, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, LDAP, lifecycle management, RBAC, provisioning/deprovisioning.
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture and security concerns.
  • Hands-on experience in web, mobile, backend development, or IP-based communications is a plus.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple personas.
  • Willingness to travel 10-25%.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.

*Note: In-person onboarding in San Francisco or Chicago, IL.

Compensation:

The OTE range in the San Francisco Bay area is $215,000–$323,000 USD. For other locations in CA, CO, NY, WA, the range is $192,000–$288,000 USD. Compensation includes base salary, incentives, equity, and benefits. Details at https://rewards.okta.com/us.
