Job summary

MathCo is seeking a senior technical leader to own end-to-end fulfilment and delivery of AI and data engagements for its Bay Area clients. This delivery leadership role will oversee the technical execution of multiple, complex engagements and direct the engineers and consultants staffed on them.

You'll work with sales, account, and delivery teams to validate solutions early and then carry ownership through to delivery — ensuring what gets sold is what gets built, on time and to a high technical

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on AI/ML engineering, data engineering, solutions architecture, or a closely related technical role.
• Proven track record owning technical delivery for enterprise clients — accountable for what gets built, not just for scoping or selling the work.
• Comfortable presenting and defending technical designs directly to senior client stakeholders with minimal oversight.
• Experience managing or mentoring technical staff (engineers, consultants, data scientists) on client engagements.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering; advanced degree a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical fulfilment and delivery of AI and data engagements for MathCo's Bay Area clients, from solution validation through go-live.
• Lead and direct the engineers, data scientists, and consultants staffed on client engagements, ensuring technical quality, timelines, and delivery standards are met.
• Serve as the senior technical point of accountability for client stakeholders throughout delivery — able to go deep on architecture, data pipelines, and model design, and to resolve technical escalations directly.
• Partner with sales and account teams at the solutioning stage to validate technical feasibility and scope, then own the clean handoff into delivery execution.
• Translate client business requirements into technical delivery plans spanning data architecture, ML/AI modeling, and cloud deployment, and hold delivery teams accountable to them.
• Establish delivery governance across concurrent engagements, including technical review cadences, quality standards, and risk mitigation.
• Mentor and manage junior and mid-level technical staff supporting delivery.
• Stay current on GenAI, LLM, and applied AI/ML trends to keep MathCo's delivery approach technically credible

Role Overview

We are seeking a senior technical leader to own end-to-end fulfilment and delivery of MathCo's AI and data engagements for our Bay Area client base. This is a delivery leadership role you'll oversee the technical execution of multiple, often complex, client engagements, direct the engineers and consultants staffed on them, and be accountable to senior client stakeholders for the quality and success of what MathCo delivers.

Primary Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical fulfilment and delivery of AI and data engagements for MathCo's Bay Area clients, from solution validation through go-live
• Lead and direct the engineers, data scientists, and consultants staffed on client engagements, ensuring technical quality, timelines, and delivery standards are met

Key Attributes & Experience

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML engineering, data engineering, solutions architecture, or a closely related technical role, including experience leading delivery teams
• Proven track record owning technical delivery/fulfilment for enterprise clients — accountable for what gets built, not just for scoping or selling the work
• Comfortable presenting and defending technical designs directly to senior client stakeholders with minimal oversight
• Experience managing or mentoring technical staff (engineers, consultants, data scientists) on client engagements
• Retail or consumer industry exposure is a plus, but not required
• Excellent client-facing communication combined with genuine technical depth
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree a plus

Technical Requirements

• Strong foundational knowledge of Python and SQL, with the ability to personally review and validate technical work rather than delegate it entirely
• Deep, current experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and working familiarity with the others
• Experience with modern data engineering stacks such as Databricks, Snowflake, Airflow, or dbt
• Practical, hands-on experience building or deploying GenAI/LLM applications — e.g., RAG pipelines, vector databases, and agent/prompt frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with MLOps practices: model deployment, monitoring, and CI/CD for ML systems
• Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Demonstrated ability to translate architecture decisions into delivery plans and hold engineering teams accountable to them

Location Requirement

This role is based in the Bay Area, California, on a hybrid basis. Candidates must either already be located in the area or willing to relocate.
