Job summary

Vizient, Inc. is seeking a Senior Principal Solutions Architect in the Chicago area to lead the Advisory Engineering portfolio.

You will partner with Product, Engineering, Data, Security, and business executives to shape scalable, secure technology strategies and guide modernization efforts. You will translate complex business needs into end-to-end technical solutions, drive architecture reviews, and mentor engineering teams while aligning with enterprise standards and governance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise development.
• 5+ years leading architecture for enterprise applications or complex technology solutions.
• Experience designing cloud-native applications, APIs, integrations, data platforms, and enterprise software architectures.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications while maintaining business continuity.
• Experience designing AI-enabled or data-driven solutions using modern cloud platforms.
• Ability to influence architecture decisions across Product, Engineering, Security, Data, and business stakeholders.
• Strong executive communication, facilitation, and relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead architecture partner for the Advisory Engineering portfolio, providing technical direction across products, platforms, and strategic initiatives.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, business stakeholders, and Enterprise Architecture to define scalable solution architectures aligned with business strategy and enterprise standards.
• Translate business requirements into end-to-end technical solutions, including application architecture, APIs, integrations, cloud services, data, security, and operational support.
• Lead architecture assessments, modernization strategies, and technology roadmaps for legacy and emerging platforms.
• Evaluate build, buy, partner, and reuse options, providing recommendations based on business value, scalability, cost, risk, and sustainability.
• Design secure, governed AI-enabled solutions aligned with enterprise AI standards.
• Establish architecture patterns for data, integrations, interoperability, and enterprise platform capabilities in partnership with Data Governance and Security teams.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, mentoring, and resolution of complex technical challenges.
• Review third-party solutions to ensure architectural integrity, operational readiness, and alignment with enterprise standards.
• Communicate architecture strategies, technical risks, and recommendations to executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
