Job summary

Aiven is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect for the AMER region. This full‑time role focuses on promoting Aiven's managed open‑source services, with emphasis on pre‑sales and post‑sales support across Apache Kafka, Clickhouse, PostgreSQL, MySQL, OpenSearch, and Redis.

Ideal candidates bring customer‑centric mindset, strong cloud knowledge (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), and the ability to translate complex tech into business value. West Coast location preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in technology/software sales, pre‑sales or consulting.
• Fluency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, Go or Ruby.
• Ability to translate complex technical jargon into business value for non‑technical buyers.
• Experience implementing proofs of concepts with Aiven services.
• Knowledge of public clouds (AWS, Google or Azure) and compute/storage/networking basics.
• Linux OS familiarity and networking basics.
• Strong understanding of search‑engine ecosystems (OpenSearch/Elasticsearch/Lucene).
• Hands‑on with streaming frameworks (Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming, Kinesis).
• Understanding of distributed storage, NoSQL databases, and data lakes.

Responsibilities

• Help customers succeed and build relationships from pre‑sales to roll‑out.
• Conduct proofs of concept to address customer requirements.
• Contribute to customer stability, enablement, and growth.
• Be active in the sales process and with existing customers.
• Represent Aiven through blogs, webinars, meetups, and talks at conferences.
• Travel up to 20% of the time.

The Role:

We are looking for a customer‑centric Senior Solutions Architect to promote using Aiven's managed open‑source services. An ideal candidate will be passionate about open‑source technology and genuinely want to help customers in a pre‑sales and post‑sales capacity.

Suitable candidates must have proven experience in one or more of the following areas that will be required in their day‑to‑day job: Apache Kafka, Clickhouse, PostgreSQL, MySQL, OpenSearch, or Redis.

The position is full‑time and permanent, located in the West Coast preferred.

What You'll Do:

• Help customers succeed, building successful relationships from pre‑sales stage to roll out and beyond
• Conduct successful proof of concepts and solve the customers' problems in getting up and running
• Actively contribute to customer stability, enablement, and growth
• Be an active contributor during the sales process as well as to our existing customers
• Be an ambassador for Aiven by various means, such as writing technical blogs, conducting webinars, sponsoring meetups, or technical talks at conferences
• Travel up to 20% of the time

What We're Looking For:

• Experience working in technology/software sales, pre‑sales or consulting
• Fluency in one or more programming languages, such as Java, Python, Go or Ruby
• Strong ability to translate complex technical jargon into clear, persuasive business value for non‑technical buyers.
• Experience implementing proof of concepts as needed, to work with Aiven services in order to address business requirements
• Knowledgeable of public clouds (AWS, Google, or Azure) and in the areas of compute, storage - block and object, networking, and security groups
• Linux operating system; demonstrable experience using various Linux utilities and tools (installation, securing system, storage, etc.) and a good grasp of networking basics like DNS
• Strong understanding with search‑engine ecosystems (OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, or Lucene).
• Hands‑on experience with streaming frameworks: Proficiency with tools like Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Apache Spark Streaming, or AWS Kinesis.
• Understanding storage systems: Familiarity with distributed storage, NoSQL databases, and data lakes.
• Attention to detail and good problem‑solving and project management skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work well with cross‑functional teams
• Relationship Building: Capability to build trust quickly and maintain strong relationships with both internal sales reps and external clients.
