Job description

This is a fully remote contract role - 5+ months. To be eligible for this role, our client requires you to be a W2 employee of VALERE. Only U.S. Citizens and Green Card Holders will be considered. Candidates must reside in the United States and perform all work from within the U.S. Visa sponsorships, STEM/OPT programs and subcontracting arrangements are not supported.

About the Opportunity:

VALERE is seeking a Solution Architect – API Marketplace for our client. This role provides strategic and technical leadership for the creation of an API Marketplace Platform, leveraging the existing Apigee API management platform and either building a custom front-end solution or integrating an off-the-shelf tool.

What You'll Do:

• Develop scalable, secure architecture for the API Marketplace platform aligned with business and technical roadmaps.
• Identify technical workstreams and collaborate with product teams to create actionable epics and features.
• Provide expert guidance on API platform development and governance best practices.
• Oversee configuration, extension, and integration with Apigee API platform.
• Partner with engineering and business stakeholders to align the API platform with enterprise initiatives.
• Define and enforce security protocols, development standards, and architectural best practices.
• Optimize the API platform for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Mentor development teams on API technologies, cloud platforms, and Agile methodologies.
• Create and maintain architecture documentation, technical roadmaps, and governance models.

What You Bring:

• 7+ years of experience in solution architecture, software development, or enterprise data governance.
• Expertise in RESTful APIs, API governance, and API platform development.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud architectures and microservices.
• Hands-on experience with Git, Azure DevOps, and Agile methodologies (Scrum).
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Preferred: Experience with Google Apigee and Backstage.io.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Required Education:

• Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years' experience including three (3) years' demonstrated technical experience and one (1) year of demonstrated leadership experience; OR
• Associate's degree and nine (9) years' experience including three (3) years' demonstrated technical experience and one (1) year of demonstrated leadership experience.

Preferred Education:

• Master’s degree in an applicable field preferred.

Pay Rate: This is a contract role with an hourly rate of $90. Your specific rate will depend on your qualifications, education, certifications, location, and how well your experience aligns with the client's requirements.
