Job Description

Develop and deliver conceptual, logical, and physical architectures and designs that align with software requirements and business needs. Research innovative solutions and create prototypes to validate ideas. Contribute to IT Governance policies by effectively utilizing them in solution vetting and architecture, incorporating the 7 R’s (Roadmap, Reuse, Retire, Resources, Risks, Return, and Resiliency) in all architectural activities. Take ownership of projects, providing strategic, architectural, and technical leadership, and act as the single point of contact for all technical matters while collaborating with project managers and business analysts to deliver the required technical solutions. Ensure that project technical resources adhere to the defined IT architecture and meet technical performance requirements. Partner strategically with IT and LOB management, influencing decisions with innovative and well-supported ideas. Develop, test, debug, and document high-performing, multi-platform, distributed applications, including prototyping and proof of concepts specific to project planning phases. Provide application support before and during emergencies, conduct root cause analysis, design application disaster recovery processes, and establish performance metrics for tracking and remediation. Promote development consistency to enhance code reuse, reduce costs, accelerate development, and facilitate smoother deployment. Mentor project team members, sharing technical and product knowledge, and train others in new technologies identified during prototyping and proof of concepts. Guide developers in architecting solutions and understanding IT Governance policies and procedures. May perform other duties as assigned. This position is 100% remote. Travel required in the form of quarterly onsite office visits, conference attendance once per year. Less than 5% of the time.

Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field and 10 years of technical experience as Architect, Technical Lead, Senior Software Engineer, Software Engineer, or closely related position. This position also requires : 10 years of experience with software engineering principles including data structures, algorithms, programming paradigms and SOLID design principles; 10 years of experience with software architecture principles including modularity, architectural styles, design patterns and anti-patterns, risk analysis and assessment, trade-off analysis, diagramming and modeling, and governance; 10 years of experience with multiple and diverse technologies, platforms and processing environments; and 10 years of experience with multiple backend development languages including Java, C#, Python, Go, etc. Additional requirements include : 5 years of experience with multiple architectural styles such as layered, service-based, event-driven, etc.; 5 years of experience multiple database technologies including relational, document, key-value, in-memory, etc.; 5 years of experience with supporting agile teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impacts, and risks while taking account of technical and architectural debt. This position also requires : 2 years of experience with frontend web development languages and frameworks; 2 years of experience with strategic and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models; 2 years of experience with product management and experience in the full SDLC using modern ways of working including Agile, Kanban, DevOps, etc.
