Job summary

Nucor Business Technology (NBT) is building a new Solution Engineering team in Dallas, TX to deliver technology solutions for Nucor's Bar and Engineered Bar Mill Group. We are seeking a Senior Solution Engineer to design, build, and scale applications that create measurable business value and improve how Nucor serves its customers.

This role will focus on digital ordering and commercial capabilities, collaborating with stakeholders to translate operational needs into secure, scalable solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of professional full-stack software development experience, including meaningful time spent on enterprise system integration.
• Hands-on experience integrating applications against enterprise systems, such as ERP platforms, middleware, or API-based integration layers.
• Experience with prompt engineering, API-based LLM integration patterns, and AI orchestration concepts, applied to real engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver complex software solutions from concept through production.
• Lead integration efforts between team applications and Nucor enterprise systems.
• Establish engineering best practices across application development, cloud infrastructure, integrations, and data.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery speed and software quality.
• Maintain high standards for architecture, testing, code quality, and documentation.
• Serve as a technical advisor and backup to the Team Lead.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into technical solutions.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and support team growth through hiring and onboarding.
• Ensure adherence to enterprise security, compliance, and data protection standards.
