Job summary

Contabo seeks two full-time Solution Architects to own and evolve the architecture across software, infrastructure and networking. The role spans parallel systems—a PHP monolith and a newer microservice stack—with emphasis on clean, scalable design and cross-team collaboration.

Remote-first with optional hybrid or on-site work based on proximity to European locations. 5+ years in architecture, plus 2+ years in an architectural role, are valued, along with strong German and English communication.

Qualifications

• Architectural knowledge for complex, distributed systems.
• Solid hosting-domain understanding behind VPS booking.
• Modeling with UML, C4, BPMN, ERD, or FMC (e.g. Drawio, Visio, Mermaid).
• 5+ years of experience, with 2+ years focused on architecture.
• Fluent in German and English.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evolve the landscape across software, infrastructure and networking.
• Retire legacy systems where sensible while keeping architecture clean.
• Ensure transparent decision-making and broad team alignment.
• Own solution architecture and drive governance across teams.
