Lateral stands for technology excellence. We’re a profitable, award‑winning design and technology company with over 20 years of experience launching bold ventures and transforming businesses. A globally distributed team of 200+ experts is united by a shared purpose: the continuous pursuit of quality.

What Sets Us Apart
  • Bias for Action & Results: We spot gaps, connect dots, anticipate what’s around the corner, and take action. We move fast, stay focused, and let results speak for themselves.
  • On Time, On Budget, On Quality: Discipline is our edge – a commitment to each other, our clients, and the standards we uphold.
  • Deep Care: Every detail matters— from design to code to decision. Integrity and thoughtful defaulting are non‑negotiable.
  • Continuous Improvement: We iterate, reflect, and adapt quickly. Progress over perfection.
  • Agility Without Dogma: Momentum matters more than rituals. Processes fit problems, not the other way around.
  • Ownership: Everyone leads. You’ll have the space to run with ideas and the trust to execute.
What You’ll Do

As a Solutions Architect at Lateral, you will connect business ambition with the technology needed to deliver it. Your role includes shaping solutions, guiding technical direction, partnering with clients, and supporting delivery teams with clarity, structure, and sound architectural judgment.

  • Lead solution definition for key initiatives: architecture, technical approach, integration strategy, cloud alignment, and delivery feasibility.
  • Translate business needs into scalable, modern architectures across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to turn architectural direction into actionable plans, balancing quality, velocity, and pragmatic trade‑offs.
  • Conduct architecture assessments, review existing systems, and define modernization, migration, or greenfield approaches.
  • Develop solution proposals, SOWs, estimates, and architectural documentation for pre‑sales and delivery.
  • Represent Lateral in early conversations with hyperscalers, building partner relationships with AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Support delivery teams through ongoing architectural decisions, technical guidance, and risk identification.
  • Champion clarity and quality: ensure solutions are maintainable, well‑structured, secure, and aligned with long‑term business value.
What We’re Looking For

We need a seasoned architect with a consulting mindset, strong technical depth, stakeholder communication, and problem framing.

  • 7+ years of experience in technical leadership roles such as Solutions Architect, Senior Architect, Principal Consultant, or similar.
  • Background in consulting or service environments.
  • Deep expertise designing systems on AWS, Azure, or GCP: architecture patterns, compute, storage, API design, integration strategies, observability, and deployment models.
  • Strong ability to lead discovery conversations, clarify requirements, and translate business needs into technical direction.
  • Experience shaping architecture for complex systems, SaaS products, integrations, distributed systems, and modern cloud applications.
  • Excellent communication skills: articulate trade‑offs, options, and decisions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Strong consultancy instincts: pre‑sales exposure, client advisory work, and solution packaging are second nature.
  • A preference for modern software engineering—cloud‑native, serverless, event‑driven, container‑based, or hybrid approaches.
  • Comfort working in ambiguity, shaping clarity, and bringing structure to complex technical and business problems.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
  • Real impact on products that matter—from healthcare to sustainability to next‑gen tech.
  • Remote‑first with office flexibility: work from home, co‑working spaces, or our offices.
  • Async collaboration, respect for time zones, and focus on outcomes over hours.
  • Outstanding team: talented, kind, and hard‑working people who care deeply about each other—no egos, no politics.
  • Growth opportunities with support to develop your craft and take on greater responsibility—at your own pace.
  • A culture of excellence: care deeply about doing the right thing, no burnout or crunch, just high‑quality work delivered sustainably.
This Role Might Not Be For You
  • You prefer well‑defined structure and hierarchy; our self‑managed style may feel challenging.
  • Distributed work isn’t your thing; async communication and proactive documentation can be difficult if you need a manager nearby.
  • Feedback doesn’t excite you; we obsess over quality and may provide nitpicky critique.
  • Change makes you uncomfortable; we’re scaling and maturing with shifting priorities and evolving processes.
How to Apply

Send your resume, a short note about what excites you about this role, and links to your work (GitHub, portfolio, architecture/design docs, blog posts). Avoid sensitive or proprietary content. If you’re sharing team projects, specify your contribution.
