Job summary

Aave Labs is seeking a Senior Smart Contract Engineer to build and evolve the Aave Protocol and GHO stablecoin. You will design, implement, test, and deploy smart contracts across Ethereum and other EVM networks, owning small to medium projects end to end.

You will work with the broader engineering team to create secure DeFi infrastructure, contribute to protocol initiatives, and advance protocol security and reliability. This role emphasizes independent design and strong judgment.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building and shipping production smart contracts using Solidity.
• Experience with DeFi protocols and a strong understanding of the EVM and design patterns.
• Ability to independently design and deliver smart contract projects of limited scope with clear requirements and risks.
• Deep expertise in DeFi areas such as lending, vaults, or stablecoins.
• Strong knowledge of smart contract security, testing methodologies, and secure development practices.
• Ability to explain technical decisions and trade-offs clearly, with evidence from prior work.
• Track record of reliable, well-tested code and constructive code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test secure Solidity-based smart contracts and dApps.
• Own small to medium-sized smart contract projects end to end, including adapters and integrations.
• Contribute to larger protocol initiatives (e.g., Aave V4, vaults, GHO) within established architecture.
• Help maintain protocol-level infrastructure and tooling.
• Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to ship new protocol features.
• Investigate security vulnerabilities, reproduce attack scenarios, and contribute to mitigations.
• Debug and troubleshoot smart contract and protocol issues across environments.
• Review code written by others with a focus on correctness, testing, and security.
• Stay up to date with Ethereum, DeFi, and security developments and apply learnings.
