Job summary

The City of Lawrence seeks a Supervisor Solid Waste to manage field crews handling collection and disposal of trash, recycling, and yard waste. You will assign work, supervise staff, and perform technical tasks for the Solid Waste Division in the Municipal Services and Operations Department.

Responsibilities include developing schedules, coordinating training, learning Routeware and billing systems, preparing reports, and assisting with annual budget development and administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, solid waste management, public or business administration, or related field.
• At least four years of increasingly responsible experience, including two years in a lead or supervisory role in solid waste or related supervision.
• Possession of a valid Kansas driver’s license; must obtain Class B CDL within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and review staff providing solid waste services.
• Prepare daily schedules and staff assignments; coordinate training.
• Learn to use Routeware software and billing/data systems.
• Prepare, review, and present reports; assist with division budget.
