Geosyntec Consultants is seeking a Solid Waste Engineer to lead our solid waste engineering practice in New England. The role can sit in Acton, MA or Hamilton, MA with hybrid or fully remote work within the New England area.

You will lead challenging projects involving landfills, expansions, closures, post‑closure monitoring, and related solid waste systems, while growing business development and managing technical efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental or geotechnical engineering is required.
• Professional licensure (P.E.) is required.
• Minimum 8 years of directly relevant experience in a consulting environment.
• Demonstrated strong interest in solid waste.
• Proven track record in client development and management.
• Regular field work and overnight travel.
• OSHA 40‑hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the overall delivery of multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Lead business development, including client acquisition and repeat business from existing clients.
• Mentor mid-career staff and manage subcontractors.
• Oversee design activities for civil, landfill, stormwater, and site layout.
• Review engineering analyses (slope stability, hydrology, landfill gas, seismic).
• Prepare permits, design calculations, drawings, specifications, and bid packages.
• Oversee fieldwork and QA/QC activities.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal solid waste regulations (RCRA, CERCLA).
• Coordinate travel to client sites and project offices as needed.
