Job summary

singularity-defense seeks a Senior Solid Rocket Motor Engineer to lead propulsion design and structural analysis for interceptor programs. You will own ballistic performance prediction, run demanding simulations, and mentor junior engineers on a hands-on lab and production floor.

Responsibilities include advanced ballistic modeling, FEA analyses, data interpretation, and ensuring meeting safety and DoD requirements across program phases.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering
• 5+ years propulsion experience with 2+ years on composite propellant systems for tactical applications
• Demonstrated technical authority on at least one motor development or qualification program
• Experience with additive manufacturing in propulsion components
• CFD proficiency with ANSYS Fluent and STAR-CCM+ for coupled analyses
• Familiarity with MIL-SPEC standards, STANAG 4170 and DoD safety regulations
• Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for data reduction and analysis

Responsibilities

• Ballistic performance modeling for tactical motor configurations and margin analysis.
• Lead structural/thermal analyses using FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN) under extreme conditions.
• Design and execute comprehensive characterization programs for mechanical properties, burn rate, and aging; analyze data and report findings.
• Provide day-to-day technical guidance to junior engineers and represent the team in IPTs and TIMs.
• Support safety/regulatory compliance activities and act as data submittal lead for CDRLs.
