Job summary

Quevera is seeking a Senior Solaris & Linux Systems Administrator in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. The role requires active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph and hands-on experience with Solaris, Linux, storage, and backup technologies.

You will patch, harden, monitor, and secure enterprise systems while collaborating across teams. Responsibilities include managing IBM storage, Veritas NetBackup, Nessus vulnerability scans, and system automation.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
• Senior Solaris and Linux systems administration experience.
• Hands-on with Solaris, IBM Enterprise Storage, Veritas NetBackup.
• Experience patching via YUM and system hardening practices.
• Proficiency scripting with Bash or Python; strong troubleshooting.

Job Description:

Quevera is seeking a skilled Senior Solaris & Linux Systems Administrator with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.

This role supports enterprise Solaris and Linux environments, including storage, backup, security, vulnerability management, and patching systems. The position requires hands‑on expertise with Solaris, IBM Enterprise Storage, Veritas NetBackup, vulnerability management tools, system hardening, and package management.

Job Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain, and optimize Solaris and Linux systems in a production environment.
• Manage and support IBM Enterprise Storage solutions, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Veritas NetBackup for enterprise backup and recovery operations.
• Perform system patching and package management using YUM repositories.
• Execute and remediate vulnerability scans using Nessus to support compliance with security standards.
• Support and maintain STE/STIN processes and environments, as applicable to organizational standards.
• Implement and maintain system security configurations, including NSF frameworks and policies.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive improvements.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on infrastructure upgrades, audits, and incident response.

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Active CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Three (3) or more years of hands‑on Solaris System Administration experience.
• Three (3) or more years of hands‑on System Administration experience with OLVM, RHEL, CentOS, or similar.
• Experience with IBM Enterprise Storage systems.
• Strong knowledge of Veritas NetBackup administration.
• Experience with Nessus vulnerability scanning and remediation workflows.
• Proficiency with YUM package management and patching strategies.
• Familiarity with STE/STIN processes and NSF‑related security frameworks.
• Solid understanding of Linux security, system hardening, and compliance practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and scripting skills using Bash, Python, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent certification.
• Experience in enterprise environments with high‑availability and disaster‑recovery requirements.
• Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or similar.
• Exposure to cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments.
