Job summary

Hanwha Renewables, headquartered in Irvine, California, seeks a Sr Development Engineer to lead technical diligence, design, energy performance forecasts, and analyses for hundreds of MW of PV and ESS projects across North America. This role supports preliminary design, PPA/EPC exhibits, and site diligence with frequent cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Engineering or closely related numerate discipline.
• 5+ years in project site diligence, design engineering, performance modeling and energy forecasting for utility-scale PV/BESS.
• Exposure to PV modelling tools (Helioscope, PVSYST, NREL SAM) is a plus.
• Experience with PV modules, inverters, and solar project development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Consolidate project information for site diligence, feasibility analysis, risk identification and design reviews for M&A and cost estimations.
• Perform conceptual design evaluations using Helioscope, PlantPredict, SIFT, PVCASE and AUTOCAD for Green Field and M&A projects.
• Model energy production using PVSYST for all projects and aid site selection and acquisitions.
• Optimize system designs to improve production yield, capacity and financial returns.
• Evaluate 3D shading and terrain models to simulate losses and improve forecast accuracy.
• Contribute to technical roadmap, software tools and engineering processes.
• Collaborate with managers, engineers and external partners to meet deliverables and deadlines.
• Travel to project sites occasionally and work overtime when needed.
