Senior Solar Design Engineer – Multifamily Division
We’re looking for a Senior Solar Design Engineer to join our growing Multifamily team and help shape the future of sustainable energy. Reporting to the Director of Sales - Multifamily, this role is central to the success of our solar projects, ensuring designs are technically sound, code-compliant, and aligned with client goals.
This is a high-impact opportunity for an innovative, forward-thinking engineer who thrives on solving complex problems and is passionate about clean energy. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and leadership to deliver best-in-class solutions that power multifamily communities.
This is a remote role based in California, with occasional travel required as detailed below.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in solar energy system design, project management, and mechanical integration for multifamily or commercial projects.
Responsibilities:
- Leads the design and integration of Solar Thermal, Photovoltaic, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Manages engineering projects from concept through completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
- Collaborates with architects, developers, engineers, and contractors to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Conducts technical assessments and resolves engineering challenges through root cause analysis.
- Oversees CAD modeling and system layout development for multifamily energy systems.
- Ensures compliance with permitting, building codes, and quality assurance standards.
- Supports manufacturing processes and system implementation strategies.
- Mentors junior engineers and contributes to team development and training.
- Stays updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulations to ensure compliance and innovation in solar design.
Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in CAD modeling and system design.
- Strong knowledge of solar PV, thermal, and battery storage technologies.
- Ability to manage complex projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
- Expertise in diagnosing technical issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Familiarity with permitting processes and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication and client coordination skills.
- Knowledge of sustainable energy practices and emerging technologies.
- Leadership and mentoring capabilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Travel to the main office in Rocklin, CA approximately 1–2 times per month, typically for a few consecutive days per visit.
- Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods.
- Occasional site visits requiring walking, standing, and climbing ladders up to 10 feet.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- May require driving to project sites using a company or personal vehicle—Must have a clean MVR.
Schedule:
- Standard business hours (Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM).
- Occasional evening or weekend availability for project deadlines or site coordination.
- Must be available for periodic travel to project locations within California.
