Senior Software Test Engineer (AUTOSAR / Telematics)

Travel Requirement: Initial 3-week onsite engagement in Romania (travel and accommodation fully funded by the client)
We are seeking a highly experienced Software Test Engineer to support the validation and quality assurance of a complex automotive ECU platform. The successful candidate will play a key role in verifying AUTOSAR-based software, telematics functionality, connectivity features, and ECU integration within a mixed AUTOSAR and Embedded Linux environment.
This position is particularly suited to a senior testing professional with a strong background in automotive software quality processes, ideally with experience in ASPICE and/or CMMI-driven development environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute software test strategies, plans, and test specifications.
- Perform verification and validation of AUTOSAR Classic software components.
- Design and execute tests across:
- Basic Software (BSW)
- Software Components (SWCs)
- Runtime Environment (RTE)
- Inter-OS-Application Communication (IOC)
- Application Layer
- Validate ECU functionality, integration, and system behaviour.
- Test connectivity features, including CAN, Ethernet, and telematics services.
- Support verification of Embedded Linux and AUTOSAR interactions.
- Analyse software defects, perform root‑cause investigations, and support resolution activities.
- Collaborate closely with software developers, architects, systems engineers, and integration teams.
- Ensure testing activities align with ASPICE, CMMI, and customer quality requirements.
- Produce test documentation, traceability artefacts, and compliance evidence.
Essential Skills & Experience
Automotive Software Testing
- Extensive experience in automotive software testing and validation.
- Proven experience testing ECU software in OEM or Tier‑1 environments.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and verification processes.
AUTOSAR Testing
- Strong knowledge of AUTOSAR Classic Platform, including:
- BSW
- SWCs
- RTE
- IOC
- Application software
- Experience validating AUTOSAR‑based software architectures.
Embedded Systems
- Good understanding of Embedded Linux and Yocto environments.
- Experience testing embedded software running across multiple software layers.
Connectivity & Telematics
- Experience testing:
- CAN communication
- Ethernet communication
- Automotive connectivity stacks
- Exposure to telematics systems, including:
- TCU functionality
- Connectivity protocols
- eCall services (preferred)
Process & Quality
- Strong understanding of automotive quality processes.
- Experience working within ASPICE and/or CMMI environments.
- Familiarity with requirements traceability, test coverage, and compliance reporting.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with Qualcomm automotive SoCs.
- Knowledge of automotive cybersecurity concepts, including:
- Experience supporting ASPICE Level 2+ assessments.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and test management tools.
- Experience with system integration and end‑to‑end vehicle feature validation.
