Overview

Pyramid Consulting, Inc. provides pay range information. Base pay range: $40.00/hr - $49.00/hr. This is an immediate need for a talented Senior Software Systems Engineer. This is a 06+ months contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Richmond, VA (Onsite). Job ID: 25-82205.

Pay Range: $40 - $49/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform environments.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and secure deployment practices.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize the platform for high availability and resilience.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and monitoring of containerized applications.
• Develop and enforce policies and procedures for maintaining platform security, compliance, and best practices.
• Provide guidance and training to other engineers on container orchestration platforms and related technologies and develop related documentation.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native architectures.
• Provide supplemental VMware vSphere support: deployment and configuration of ESXi hosts, storage and performance monitoring, and performing security updates.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and respond to issues with VM infrastructure and server OS tickets.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience

• Kubernetes architecture: kubectl, Helm, and other Kubernetes tools; proven expertise in managing and operating Kubernetes platforms, especially Red Hat OpenShift environments. Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG).
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, components, and ecosystem, with hands-on experience using kubectl, Helm, and related tools.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and practices (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps).
• Experience with supporting virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and collaborative approach to troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration.
• Familiarity with security best practices for containerized applications and Kubernetes environments (RBAC, network policies).
• Experience with database management systems in a Kubernetes context (PostgreSQL, MySQL, ArangoDB, or MongoDB).
• Experience in agile development methodologies (Scrum and Kanban).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud architectures.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working in cross-functional teams.
• Ability to lead, collaborate, or work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software systems engineering with a focus on container orchestration platforms.
• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
