Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Software Engineer with an Active TS/SCI clearance to design, develop, test, and operate secure software systems. You will perform security testing, code reviews, and contribute to the overall architecture while maintaining comprehensive documentation.

The ideal candidate has 20+ years of software engineering leadership, a technical Bachelor’s degree, and hands-on experience with Java/C/C++, RESTful services, and cloud-native tooling like Kubernetes, Ansible, and Terraform.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with current Polygraph required.
• Twenty (20) years of experience in planning and leading Software Engineering efforts.
• Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
• Four (4) years of additional software engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Implement, test, and operate software using secure coding practices.
• Perform ongoing security testing and participate in code reviews to enhance software security and features.
• Debug, design, and code new software or modify existing software.
• Propose engineering designs for new software to mitigate security vulnerabilities.
• Contribute across architecture levels and maintain technical documentation.
• Collaborate with teammates to exchange knowledge on secure coding practices.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

• Software Engineer to implement, test, and operate using advanced software security techniques in compliance with the technical reference architecture to enhance software systems.
• Perform on-going security testing and participate in code reviews to improve software security and features.
• Debug, design, and code new software or modify existing software.
• Provide and recommend engineering designs for new software solutions to help mitigate security vulnerabilities.
• Contribute on all levels of the architecture and maintain technical documentation.
• Collaborate with team members and exchange knowledge on secure coding practices.
• Ability to develop familiarity with new tools and best practices.

Highly Desired Skills:

• Demonstrated work experience with OpenSource (NoSQL) products such as Hbase/Accumulo, Big Table, etc.
• A minimum of six (6) years demonstrated experience out of the most recent eight (8) years developing production software for Solaris or Linux environments
• Six years (6) of experience developing software using the Java programming language or C or C++
• Developing RESTful services
• Developing infrastructure as code
• Continuous integration and deployment tools such as Ansible and Terraform

• Previous experience developing analytics applications

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
