Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Software Testing Principal with strong Edifecs/EDI experience for a 100% remote, U.S.-based role. The position requires a track record of leading complex software testing on Agile projects and deep knowledge of testing tools and security practices.

The role supports the Veterans Affairs department as a full-time position, with a compensation range reflecting 10+ years of experience and Public Trust clearance readiness.

Qualifications

• Proven track record on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing is required.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum and SDLC.
• Ability to write and execute comprehensive test cases and scripts.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions.
• Experience with Git, SVN, and issue trackers (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Knowledge of performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
• Familiarity with Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
• Experience with COTS products and security testing practices.
• Understanding of functional, regression, integration, system, and UAT testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to meet standards and end-user requirements.
• Create test schedules, approaches, and write test cases/scripts.
• Conduct walkthroughs with test managers and developers.
• Lead tests of software/IT systems to ensure proper operation and defect-free results.
• Document and communicate test results; analyze and resolve issues.
• Provide direction to team members and manage testing activities.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting; support risk-based testing and exploratory testing.
• Collaborate with DevOps to integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines.
