Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Software Testing Principal with Edifecs expertise for a 100% remote role within the Veterans Affairs department. Location: Remote; Citizenship: U.S. bound; W-2 employment.

This position targets experienced professionals with strong test leadership and Edifecs/X12 knowledge. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in complex software projects, manual and automated testing, and a solid understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum, and DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• Experience on complex software projects with high-quality deliverables.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and SDLC concepts.
• Proficiency in writing/executing test cases, scripts, and plans.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with Git, SVN, JIRA, Bugzilla.
• Understanding of performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
• Experience with Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with COTS products and security testing.
• Knowledge of EDIFECS Edifecs and X12 workflows is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to meet standards and requirements.
• Develop test schedules and approaches; write/test scripts and data for scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers, Leads, and Development.
• Lead tests of software/IT systems for proper operation and defect-free results.
• Verify work products using defined methods and environments; document results.
• Analyze test results and resolve open issues; create metrics and reports.
• Provide direction to team members and measure objective achievement.
• Develop improvements and models for future configurations; communicate progress to management.
• Support other IT activities as needed and participate in risk-based testing.
