Job summary

Turing, a San Francisco-based research accelerator for frontier AI labs, seeks a Senior Program Lead to own production systems behind its software-engineering data programs. You will drive delivery, quality, throughput, and cost while coordinating hundreds of distributed engineers.

The role blends operational leadership with strong technical expectations, including design of workflows for datasets, RL environments, and evaluations, plus automation through Python/SQL. Remote work is supported.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder software programs or similar environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify bottlenecks and optimize production.
• Experience managing distributed teams, contributor networks, or large-scale technical operations.
• Excellent customer-facing communication, managing expectations, risks, and relationships.
• Ability to read and review code in Python, TypeScript, Java, or Go.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery across scope, timelines, quality, throughput, contributor performance, and cost.
• Design and manage workflows for coding datasets, agentic trajectories, RL environments, benchmarks, and evaluations.
• Identify bottlenecks and improve workflows with better instructions, sequencing, incentives, and capacity planning.
• Define contributor requirements and work with talent teams to source, onboard, train, and ramp distributed software engineers.
• Build team-lead and reviewer structures for programs with 100–1,000+ contributors.
• Own quality-control systems, analyze datasets for trends and errors, address root causes.
• Act as the primary customer contact for AI labs, communicating progress and risks.
• Translate research objectives into practical task specifications and push back when needed.
• Use Python, SQL, or similar tools to automate quality sampling and throughput reporting.
• Convert successful workflows into reusable playbooks and contributor-management systems.
• Share operational learnings and mentor other program leads.
