Job summary

Formlabs is seeking a Senior Software Product Designer to shape UX/UI across embedded, desktop, and web products. You will collaborate with creative and engineering teams, prototype at varying fidelities, and drive designs from concepts to public release to empower customers to create.

The role requires deep technical design experience, a strong portfolio, and a passion for human‑computer interaction, CAD/3D tech, and industrial design principles.

Qualifications

  • Have a proven track record of working on complex, technical products across desktop, web, mobile, or embedded interfaces.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of human‑computer interaction principles and communicate design intentions clearly.
  • Show a diverse portfolio including early‑stage ideation, user research, and pixel‑perfect designs.
  • Deep expertise with design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment with constructive feedback and strong cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Leverage a technical background with experience working closely with product and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Help design, grow, and maintain robust, scalable design systems for consistency across products.

Your Impact:

The Formlabs Design Team is looking for a Senior Software Product Designer to shape the UX/UI design and development of user experience and interfaces across our embedded, desktop, and web products. As a member of the team, you will collaborate across creative and engineering disciplines, prototype at varying levels of fidelity, and contribute to creating products and user experiences that empower our customers to achieve their goals.

What You’ll Do:
  • Deeply understand the needs of Formlabs customers, translating their insights into innovative features.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering to refine designs and bring them to life, driving features from low-fidelity wireframes to pixel-perfect prototypes and all the way through to public release—where your work has a tangible impact on our customers and their creations.
  • Partner with product managers to ideate, define, and validate early‑stage concepts for new features that deliver significant business value and exceptional user experiences.
  • Conduct in‑depth research by collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing product usage data, creating high‑fidelity prototypes, and validating assumptions with usability studies to uncover insights that inform customer‑focused, strategic design decisions.
  • Conduct regular audits of the end‑to‑end user experience across our ecosystem and propose impactful initiatives to leadership.
  • Help design, grow, and maintain robust and scalable design systems that ensure consistency and efficiency across all products.
About You:
  • Have a proven track record of working on complex, technical products, ideally with experience spanning desktop, web, mobile, or embedded interfaces.
  • Bring a clear understanding of human‑computer interaction principles, executing them effectively and communicating design intentions clearly to collaborators.
  • Demonstrate a strong and diverse portfolio that includes early‑stage ideation, user research, and pixel‑perfect designs.
  • Have deep expertise with design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment, where you can take and give constructive feedback in a culture where the best ideas win.
  • Leverage a technical background, with experience working closely with product and engineering teams.
  • Prior experience designing software for physical products and/or have a background in industrial design.
Bonus Skills:
  • An interest in 3D printing, CAD, embedded software, and/or related technologies.
  • Computer Science background or coding experience.
  • Experience with Qt, QML, or OpenGL.

Compensation

Every Formlabs employee receives equity because everyone contributes to building the company. You’ll have the opportunity to share financially in the value we create together, with a shared incentive to build a business that succeeds over the long term. Equity will be a significant portion of your total compensation, and will increase over time in proportion to your impact. The base pay will be determined by your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and expected impact on the organization.

The annual base pay range for this role is: $135,000 — $180,000 USD
