Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Software Patent Prosecution Attorney for a full service law firm in Indiana. The role involves drafting software patents, managing prosecution, and collaborating with founders, in-house counsel, and engineering teams to turn invention concepts into strong, defensible claims.

The candidate should have a JD from an accredited law school, be licensed in good standing, registered to practice before the USPTO, and possess 5+ years of software-focused patent experience with a track

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Licensed attorney in good standing.
• Registration to practice before the USPTO.
• At least 5 years of software-focused patent preparation and prosecution experience at a law firm.
• At least 100 patents drafted from scratch.
• Strong drafting skills across specs, claims, and responses.

Responsibilities

• Draft new patent applications focused on software inventions with clear technical narratives and strong claim strategy.
• Manage prosecution from filing through allowance, including office-action responses, interviews, amendments, and examiner strategy.
• Translate complex product concepts into patentable subject matter, defensible claim scope, and portfolio roadmaps.
• Partner directly with founders, in-house counsel, product leaders, and engineering teams to capture inventions efficiently.
• Conduct patentability and landscape analysis to guide filing decisions, continuation strategy, and competitive positioning.
• Maintain excellent client communication, timelines, and docket hygiene across multiple matters.
