Job description

Position Summary

Lead complex application changes, integration analysis and technical problem resolution for IMDS CDB / IMDS-MSM. Your work connects code, mission rules and release evidence so improvements can be verified without interrupting maintenance operations. Developers unit-test their own changes; other qualified personnel perform independent verification. This position is contingent based on award, with an anticipated salary range of $125,000-$130,000 based on candidate qualifications and final contract requirements.

Work Environment
  • Work Location: Remote/hybrid eligible; Montgomery/Gunter Annex attendance for onboarding, reviews and mission events.
  • Security Clearance: Active Secret
  • Salary: $125K-$130K
Compensation

Karthik Consulting is committed to providing competitive compensation based on the responsibilities of the role, required qualifications, security clearance level, relevant experience, certifications, customer requirements, geographic location, and overall business needs. The salary range listed for this position represents a good-faith estimate of the current compensation range for this role.

At Karthik Consulting, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range. Final compensation decisions are based on the facts and circumstances of each candidate’s experience, qualifications, certifications, clearance level, contract requirements, and overall alignment with the role.

Employees may be eligible for company benefits and additional compensation programs, subject to company policy, contract requirements, and individual eligibility.

Program Scope and Description

IMDS supports Air Force maintenance documentation, scheduling, personnel qualifications and aircraft/equipment history. The disclosed baseline distinguishes the Micro Focus COBOL Central Data Base (CDB) from the C# Maintenance Scheduling Module (MSM), with hosting on Cloud One Azure.

Work in a Micro Focus COBOL/CDB or C#/MSM component track matched to your skills. Identify your primary track when applying; expertise in both is not required for every assignment. Bitbucket and the disclosed GitLab transition support versioned delivery on Cloud One Azure.

Key Responsibilities

Mission application work

  • Implement changes to discrepancies, corrective actions, component replacements, maintenance schedules or qualification checks in the assigned CDB/MSM component.
  • Preserve maintenance history and business rules while tracing affected data exchanges, including assigned links with CEMS, FMxC2, BLADE or REMIS.
  • Exercise assigned disconnected-operation and synchronization paths; identify duplicate, missing or inconsistent transactions for independent validation.

Development discipline and assurance

  • Lead design/code reviews, mentor developers and compare refactor, replatform or other approved options without assuming a wholesale rewrite.
  • Produce unit tests, reproducible builds and traceable source/configuration changes; fix scan findings and defects identified by independent testers.

Delivery and operational support

  • Use approved repositories and pipeline gates, retain release/user-documentation inputs and support the disclosed transition from inherited tooling as directed.
  • Investigate recurring incidents, record corrective actions and support approved release or recovery activity without independently accepting code you authored.
  • Use only approved components and AI tools; keep Government code and data out of unauthorized public services.
Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, software/systems engineering or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered only where permitted by the applicable contract labor category.

Professional Certifications
  • Relevant development, database, cloud or secure-engineering credentials are preferred. Mandatory technical or cyber-workforce credentials, if applicable, will follow the approved work-role, proficiency and contract-category mapping.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Coding ability in the selected Micro Focus COBOL/CDB or C#/MSM track; expertise in both is not required for every seat.
  • Experience leading complex code or interface changes, reviewing technical designs and mentoring developers through a production release.
  • Ability to trace a workflow through application logic and stored data, explain the impact of a change and document expected results for independent testers.
  • Practical use of source control, secure coding and reproducible defect evidence; ability to resolve cross-component issues without bypassing change controls.
  • Possess or obtain and maintain Secret clearance before Government system or facility access, and complete required investigation, CAC, access and security training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Air Force maintenance documentation, DAFI 21-101 scheduling, CEMS/REMIS exchanges or Cloud One Azure.
  • Experience with Micro Focus COBOL/CDB or C#/MSM; SQL/data handling; Git/Bitbucket; approved GitLab-transition practices.
