Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking an Associate Manager, Software Engineering to lead a team delivering software for aerospace systems. The role combines people leadership with technical oversight to align with requirements, quality and schedule.

Working across systems engineering, hardware, quality, and program management, you will drive continuous improvement, foster collaboration, and ensure best practices in software development and software configuration management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 4–7 years software engineering experience with at least 1 year in leadership roles.
• Experience leading software teams in aerospace/defense or regulated industries.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, IV&V, configuration management, and secure development practices.
• Experience with Agile, Scrum, DevOps, CI/CD, and issue tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of software engineers with regular feedback and mentoring.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, high-performing team culture with accountability and continuous learning.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, workforce planning, and employee development activities.
• Conduct performance reviews and set development goals to enhance performance.
• Ensure compliance with software processes, configuration management, and engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to plan, resource, risk-manage, and deliver engineering objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement of tools, processes, and documentation.
