Job summary

Google is seeking an Software Engineering Manager in Sunnyvale to lead a team that builds critical features for Spanner, a globally-replicated SQL-aware database. You will guide engineers across multiple sites, contribute to product strategy, and oversee deployment of large-scale projects.

You will mentor engineers, shape project goals, and ensure scalability, reliability, and availability across the Spanner ecosystem while collaborating with cross-functional partners and leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
• Experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.
• Experience devising product vision, product roadmap(s), and execution working with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage SWEs to work on large-scale feature development and integrate with other products in the wider Spanner ecosystem.
• Collaborate with Spanner teams and leadership to define future roadmaps.
• Manage a team, work with backend technologies, collaborate across multiple teams to achieve long-term goals.
