Job summary

Terabase Energy is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a highly skilled team responsible for the Terafab manufacturing execution system. You will blend hands-on coding with strategic direction, shaping the architecture and interfaces across Fab, Autonomy, IoT, and Controls teams.

You will guide design decisions, drive technical debt reduction, and champion agile practices. This role is primarily remote, but requires proximity to Davis, CA for collaboration and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering with demonstrated technical leadership across complex systems.
• Strong architectural thinking for scalable systems across dimensions (performance, team size, feature complexity).
• Expert proficiency in Python, Django, and building scalable backend services.
• Strong frontend experience with Angular and complex state management/performance optimization.
• Deep experience with PostgreSQL and PostGIS for spatial workloads.
• Ability to guide AI-assisted coding tools while ensuring maintainability and long-term skills development.
• Experience designing complex data models and interfaces between software and hardware-adjacent systems.
• Proven agile/scrum experience and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive technical strategy and architecture for Fab manufacturing execution system.
• Lead design and implementation of features or components within Fab.
• Guide cross-team interfaces between Fab and adjacent systems (Autonomy, IoT, Controls/SCADA).
• Conduct thorough code reviews focused on architecture and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers through reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing; drive best practices.
