Job summary

Sonatech, LLC, an undersea acoustics engineering and manufacturing company in Santa Barbara, CA, seeks a Sr. Software Engineering Manager to lead and inspire the Software Engineering team. You will translate program requirements into engineering tasks, mentor staff, and drive technical strategies across multiple projects.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in software development with 5+ years in engineering management, plus experience with Agile/Waterfall, CI/CD, and a DoD/CMMC environment. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years of software development experience.
• 5+ years of engineering management.
• Experience with Agile and Waterfall project management.
• Experience with CI/CD methodology.
• Experience in a CMMC Cyber Security environment.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication skills and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and support the Software Engineering team.
• Translate program requirements into engineering tasks with PMs and Project Engineers.
• Plan project scheduling and manpower estimating.
• Develop technical strategies to achieve engineering goals.
• Hire and train new Software Engineering staff.
• Provide status updates to Project Managers through meetings and reports.
• Interface with customers as Sonatech software representative.
