Job summary

The New York Post is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead our technology team and build scalable cloud-based services powering our digital ecosystem. This hands-on leader will oversee infrastructure, data pipelines, personalization, and AI tooling across AWS/GCP, collaborating with newsroom and product teams in a fast-paced environment.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; the role follows a hybrid model with in-office presence required 3 days a week.

Qualifications

• MS or BS in computer science, or related field.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 5+ years experience leading engineering teams.
• Proficiency in Python, Node.js, or Go.
• Familiarity with AWS and/or GCP services.
• Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs, authentication/authorization, and API best practices.
• Familiar with AI tools, IDEs, Git, JIRA, and agile methodologies.
• Comfort with code reviews, unit tests, QA and UAT processes, and end-to-end testing frameworks.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support a small team of agile software and data engineers.
• Design, build, and operate cloud-based APIs for websites and apps.
• Work with compute, query, storage, and big data services (Vertex AI, Lambdas, DynamoDB, Cloud Functions, S3, Kubernetes, Glue, BigQuery).
• Own data ingestion pipelines for real-time and batch processing of large-scale content and event data.
• Scale APIs to support editorial workflows, AI, personalization, analytics, and user-facing apps.
• Own the team’s codebases, PRs, testing, maintenance and release process.
• Collaborate with product, editorial, and data science teams to meet business needs.
• Monitor, optimize, and improve reliability, security, and cost efficiency of cloud systems.
• Communicate and present a vision to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Run and/or supervise agile sprint ceremonies.
