Job summary

Barobo, Inc. in Davis, CA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead architecture, design, and development for its main web-based learning environment.

You will collaborate with the executive team to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions, work with AI and cybersecurity practices, and help improve the SDLC in a fast-paced, Agile setting. The role requires 3+ years delivering full-stack apps, strong skills in PHP, Node.js, React, cloud hosting, and a passion for education

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
  • 3+ years experience delivering full-stack web applications (front-end, back-end, and cloud hosting technologies).
  • Significant experience with PHP, Node.js, HTML, CSS, MySQL, PostgreSQL, nginx, Linux, React, and cloud hosting technologies (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Responsibilities

  • Build, refine, and maintain the full-stack web application for the RoboBlocky platform.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Utilize a variety of programming tools and languages, including AI tools, web development tools, database technologies, cloud services, and networking and security tools.
  • Identify technical and cybersecurity problems and develop solutions.
  • Assist in monitoring and optimizing real-time product performance.
  • Respond quickly to fix bugs from internal or external sources.
  • Identify technical problems and develop solutions, including for cybersecurity.
  • Help develop standardized SDLC processes.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Work in a fast-paced, agile environment to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Perform other related duties in a team environment.

For at-risk and gifted students alike, Barobo educational technologies and curriculum have been proven to significantly increase math performance.

Barobo is in a high-growth stage and is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a passion for technology and education. This person will be responsible for leading architecture, design, and development for Barobo’s main web-based integrated learning environment.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a remote position. Candidates must live within reasonable commuting distance of Davis, CA, where Barobo’s main office is located, or be willing to relocate. Applicants must be US citizens.

  • Utilize a variety of programming tools and languages, including AI tools, web development tools, database technologies, cloud services, and networking and security tools
  • Identify technical and cybersecurity problems and develop solutions
  • Assist in monitoring and optimizing real-time product performance
  • Respond in a timely manner to fix bugs that have been identified, whether from internal or external sources
  • Identify technical problems and develop solutions, including for cybersecurity
  • Help to develop new standardized processes around Barobo’s software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends
  • Work in a fast-paced, agile environment to ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in a team environment
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Passion for improving education through technology
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields
  • 3+ years experience in delivering full-stack web applications (front-end, back-end, and cloud hosting technologies)
  • Significant working experience with PHP, Node.js, HTML, CSS, MySQL, PostgreSQL, nginx, and Linux, as well as front-end technologies (e.g., React) and cloud hosting technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Significant experience with AI and cybersecurity techniques, tools, and best practices
  • Strong programming skills in Python and C/C++ (preferred)
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Strong sense of urgency with a bias towards action
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be a US citizen
Salary and Benefits
  • Barobo offers a competitive total compensation package that includes a base salary, 401(k) with company match, paid vacation, and health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 to $170,000, with an accompanying equity grant. An individual’s base salary will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
