Job summary

GEICO seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the Underwriting Services Team in Bethesda, MD, shaping the next-gen underwriting platform across business lines. You will design, develop, and deploy core experiences that leverage AI, with a focus on scalability and production readiness.

You will partner with underwriting operations to streamline processes, replace manual work with automation, and deliver reliable, scalable software across various Azure-based services.

Qualifications

• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C# or other object-oriented languages.
• Experience contributing to the architecture and design of new and current systems.
• CS data structures and algorithms knowledge.
• Understanding of SOA and REST/gRPC APIs.
• DevOps, cloud architecture, and Azure DevOps familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems.
• Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle.
• Participate in design sessions and code reviews to elevate engineering quality.
