Job summary

Farther is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Test Infrastructure in hybrid New York. You’ll design and scale testing tools across frontend and backend, building automation, mocks, and production-like test environments while ensuring security and reliability in financial services.

You’ll drive testing standards, collaborate with engineers, and own reusable fixtures and data factories for complex workflows. Strong testing infra experience is essential.

The Role

We're looking for a Software Engineer, Test Infrastructure (SETI) to help build the systems that keep our TypeScript codebase fast to test, easy to trust, and safe to ship. You'll focus on designing tools, frameworks, and pipelines that elevate the productivity and confidence of engineers working across both frontend and backend systems. You'll build infrastructure that scales with our growing team, promotes engineering best practices, and catches problems before they reach production. You'll work closely with engineering teams across the organization to ensure our testing ecosystem supports rapid development while maintaining the high reliability and security standards required in financial services.

The Ideal Match
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on testing infrastructure, developer tooling, or platform engineering
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (CDK, Datadog, Terraform, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of test automation patterns, mocking strategies, and test environment management
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration for test environments
  • Knowledge of database testing strategies and test data management
  • Strong foundation in software engineering principles and system design
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools for test infrastructure
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex testing issues
  • Strong written communication skills and documentation practices

  • Experience with financial services or regulated industry testing requirements
  • Knowledge of property-based testing and fuzzing techniques
