Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Seattle/Bay Area seeks a Software Engineer to design and implement embedded software for space-grade systems running Linux/RTOS/bare-metal on multi-core SoCs.

You will lead software development, develop drivers for satellite payload and ground equipment, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with hardware teams to ensure robust, secure, and high-performance systems while adhering to CI/CD and TDD practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in computer engineering, CS, or electrical engineering.
• 3+ years of embedded software development in C/C++ for Linux/RTOS/bare-metal.
• Strong object-oriented design and debugging with SW/HW tools.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and TDD.
• Experience leading software teams and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop multi-threaded embedded software for Linux/RTOS/bare-metal platforms on multi-core SoCs.
• Implement custom drivers and tooling for Satellite RF transceivers and antenna/optical systems.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to integrate software with hardware systems.
• Contribute to design discussions, code reviews, and technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot with telemetry/logs/traces; mentor junior engineers; champion CI/CD practices.

Your role will involve utilizing your expertise in software development for constrained environments, real-time operating systems, high-speed handling of data , and encryption to develop and maintain complex software solutions. You will guide software development and optimization efforts, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal quality and performance of our systems.Y our ability to innovate, provide architectural direction, and deliver efficient solutions is crucial to managing the entire development process.
